Brandon Tuck, Presidential Associate for Community Partnerships, Engagements and Outreach

Brandon Tuck has more than 15 years of experience in university admissions, with recruitment and outreach at both large public and small private institutions and can offer knowledgeable insight into a range of admissions, outreach topics as well as the importance of university-community partnerships.

At Cal Poly Pomona, he most recently served as associate vice president of Enrollment Management and Admissions. During his year managing admissions, the university increased the overall mean GPA of incoming students and increased student diversity with a 9% increase in female students, 5% increase in African American students and 12% increase in Hispanic students.

A theme in his work at CPP has been increasing access to the university and the California State University system for underserved communities. He has strengthened relationships with external partners, including the development of education leadership summits, which bring together community college presidents, high school superintendents, and principals to strengthen partnerships, align recruitment strategies and enhance student pathways to higher education. He established a data sharing agreement with Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) to strengthen transfer pathways, enhance student support services, and increase enrollment opportunities for community college students transitioning. He also serves on the California State University Admissions Advisory Council Office, contributing to the development of a new systemwide admission model and the Transfer Success Pathway program.

To help students who are applying to CPP’s impacted programs of study, those which receive more qualified applicants than they can accept, Tuck led implementation of CPP Choice, an enrollment initiative that provides students not accepted into their chosen major with information on similar majors that lead to similar careers. Three years after the program began, more than 65% of students accepted the offer of admission to a related major and enrolled at CPP. The innovative program provides students with an alternate route to their goals and helps the university meet its enrollment targets. He also launched a returning student initiative for students who had stopped out of college.
